Is the Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell "Out Cold" for good?
by Greg Riot

Fight trends favor a Comeback from Chuck
At the press conference after UFC 97: Redemption, UFC president Dana White confirmed that it was definitely Chuck's last fight. Randy Couture returned at age 45 to fight Brock Lesner, so who's to say that the Iceman is gone for good? Chuck started martial arts at age 12 and has been with the UFC since 1998. As the expression goes, "you can take the dog out of a fight, but you can't take the fight out of a dog."
"The Iceman" Chuck Liddell lost his most recent match against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua on April 19th at UFC 97. It took Shogun under five minutes to add Chuck to his list of TKO victims. You may think the cold has been getting to him because "The Iceman" had been slowing down. He fought only one UFC event in 2008, loosing to Rashad Evans by a KO that no MMA fan will soon forget. Contrary to popular belief, at age 39, there is a good chance that Chuck will get out of retirement and make a comeback.
You might argue that Chuck is getting old and that's why he's been losing most of his recent fights. You might be wondering if the gas that fueled the wins over Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture has been all but spent. Lets see what his record has to say about that...
After his loss to Rua, Chuck Liddell has a MMA record of 21-7-0. Let's look at some interesting MMA betting trends leading up to this record:
- After losing to Jeremy Horn by TKO in UFC 19 Chuck had a winning streak of 7 consecutive wins in the UFC
- After losing to Randy Couture by TKO Stoppage in UFC 43 Chuck had a ANOTHER winning streak of 7 consecutive wins in the UFC.
Most people are not paying attention to these trends and are looking at his last 5 fights in which he has a record of 1-4. If history repeats itself, which it usually does, then Liddell is due for YET ANOTHER winning streak starting his next match when comes back.
Riots Review: I’d say Chuck Liddell has a 70% chance of coming back to the UFC and a 50% chance of fighting with another organization.
The UFC betting odds wont be in his favor but underdog or not, WHEN he comes back you will see the Iceman heat up and burn a trail of destruction. So get your bets ready and cash in on Chuck when the odds are up for his next fight in the BetUS Sportsbook.
