Strikeforce Fedor vs. Rogers full card preview
by Nick Meyer

If there’s any justice in this world, Saturday’s Strikeforce/M1 Global fight night on CBS will shatter the network TV records for MMA viewership that Kimbo Slice set when he took on James Thompson.
So, will it happen? That’s hard to estimate, but one thing’s for sure, Saturday night will bring lots of great opportunities to make some cold, hard cash for MMA bettors across the globe watching from many different countries.
A four-pack of excellent fights awaits MMA fans in fights that should either be competitive or have great upset potential despite some long odds for the underdogs on the evening.
The main event will feature two fighters with just one loss combined in 40 fights along with a combined weight of just over 500 pounds as MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko takes on Brett Rogers.
Fedor is a -500 to +350 favorite in the fight going into Saturday. While Fedor is the last guy MMA fans would want to bet against, the prospect of throwing a few bucks on Rogers, who boasts a huge weight advantage and the potential for a flash knockout, is something should intrigue many bettors at BetUS.
The fight is for the Strikeforce Heavyweight Title and Fedor has a big advantage on the ground going in. But this could be one of his toughest challenges in years.
The second-biggest fight on the night in terms of competitiveness and hype is the Strikeforce Middleweight Title Bout between Jake Shields and Jason Mayhem Miller.
You might remember the eccentric Mayhem from the MTV show “Bully Beatdown,” and Miller is hoping to deliver a beatdown of his own to the favored Shields.
Shields is listed at -300 going in as the favorite to +220 for the underdog Miller.
Shields’ biggest strength is his world class ground game as he submitted Robbie Lawler to win the title, and ironically he has also appeared on Miller’s MTV show where he won in easy fashion against a helpless bully.
Miller might have a slight advantage standing and he knows how to handle himself on the ground as well, which should make this an epic fight.
In other action, Fedor’s training partner, the Armenian/Dutch phenom Gegard Mousasi, will have another chance to endear himself to American audiences as he takes on Sokoudjou.
The fight was originally planned to be part of Dream’s Super Hulk Tournament but has been moved to Strikeforce. Sokoudjou is a +350 to -500 underdog but he has the power to pull off the upset as evidenced by his past big win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, a.k.a. Lil’ Nog, in PRIDE. Mousasi will be tough to beat with his versatility and calm, assassin-like mentality, however.
As if those three topnotch fights weren’t even for hardcore MMA fans, Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers also features a contenders matchup between two guys who could be in line for the next crack at the main event’s winners. Fabricio Werdum, the jiu-jitsu expert, takes on the massive Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in what should be a competitive and explosive fight. Werdum comes in as the favorite at -165 to +135 for Silva but Werdum has shown some weaknesses standing up, which could allow Silva to steal the show.
While the UFC gets all the headlines, this card is shaping up to be one of the best of the year and with such intriguing odds, it could be one of the best cards to bet on all year as well in the world of MMA.
