WBC Pool D Game - Netherlands vs. Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico and the Netherlands will meet in the final game of Pool D play tonight at 5:30 p.m. ET in the World Baseball Classic.

The winner gets the right to play its first game of Round 2 against the second seed of Pool C on Saturday evening while the loser plays the top seed of Pool C on Saturday afternoon.

Puerto Rico will send left-hander Jonathan Sanchez to the mound while the Netherlands will determine its starter later in the day.

"Pitching here in Puerto Rico is what I have always wanted," said Sanchez, expressing his excitement to pitch before his countrymen.

Puerto Rico will also look to retain its perfect record of 5-0 in first-round play in the World Baseball Classic. In the 2006 Classic, Puerto Rico enjoyed a 3-0 record in the first round.

The Netherlands come to the Wednesday game after less than 24 hours of pulling off its second successive upset win over the Dominican Republic - an impressive 2-1 come-from-behind-victory in the 11th inning that left the mighty Dominican republic team hanging its head in shame as many had them favored to win the entire World Baseball Classic.

"Hopefully our guys can get some sleep and some rest," Dutch manager Rod Delmonico said after eliminating the Dominicans from the Classic on Tuesday night.

Analysis: While the Netherlands have pulled off two absolutely shocking wins over arguably the most talented team in the World Baseball Classic, I just don’t see them beating a very talented Puerto Rico team.
