Betting NHL Online - Monday Power Play

Bookmark and Share by Robby Maddux

There's a great MNF game this evening but don't forget about the online NHL betting action, because among the five games slated on the ice there's money to be made. The game that caught my eye I'm using on tonight's betting slip is the matchup between Nashville (14-10-2) at St. Louis (11-11-3), starting at 8:30pm EST.

Nashville has won three straight and improved to 8-3-1 since Nov. 11 with a 1-0 win over Minnesota on Saturday. During the three-game winning streak Preds' backup goaltender Pekka Rinne has shut out two of the three with dazzling play.

Preds' regular starter Dan Ellis is expected to back up Rinne on Monday. Rinne is 6-0-0 with a 2.25 GAA in eight starts this season. He’s the league's only undefeated net keeper that's appeared in at least two games. In Saturday's win, Rinne recorded a season-high 32 saves much to the delight of NHL wagering faithful in Nashville.

The hottest goalie currently on the ice looks to help lift the Preds to a fourth straight victory for the first time since Feb. 24-March 3, 2007. But extending the streak won't come easy. The Blues won in regulation and in a shootout in this season's first two meetings, outscoring the Preds 6-2, though, prior to those two games Nashville had won five straight over St. Louis.

The Blues are coming off a 4-3 win on Saturday over Phoenix that ended a modest two-game skid, which had lost four of five. Manny Legace made 23 saves against the Coyotes and was victorious for the first time since Nov. 21 against Anaheim. Blues' Keith Tkachuk scored on Saturday to reach the 1,000 points milestone. Tkachuk scored twice in St. Louis’ home win over the Preds on Oct. 10. He's second on the team in goals (12) and points (18).

Analysis: The Preds are 2-5 in their last seven games versus Central foes, meanwhile, the Blues are a profitable 6-1 in its last seven division matchups. Legace is a respectable 12-7-1 in 28 career starts against Nashville with a sharp 2.16 GAA (.917 save percent). Rinne has been spectacular, but sorry Preds' investors, all good things must come to an end. Sports betting fans in Music City will be singing the ''Blues'' after this one. If you bet on NHL, take St. Louis -105 as listed in the BetUS NHL odds.
