NFL Betting Futures - Donovan McNabb Passing Odds

Donovan McNabb NFL Betting Futures – He Makes the Eagles Legit Title Contenders
While most of the professional football news coming out of the ‘City of Brotherly Love’ this preseason has focused on the surprise signing of elusive former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, the Philadelphia Eagles will enter the 2009-10 NFL regular season as one of the top contenders to win this year’s NFC title in large part because of their longtime incumbent starter, Donovan McNabb.
The low-key former Syracuse University star, may not generate nearly as much media attention as his infamous backup, but NFL Betting Futures enthusiasts everywhere can now cash in on the accurate signal caller thanks to the entertaining NFL odds at BetUS.com
With Philadelphia’s regular season opener less than one week away, let’s take a look at McNabb’s NFL betting odds, followed by my analysis and selection on how each matchup will play out.
McNabb vs. Cutler Most Touchdown Passes
Donovan McNabb ~ Eagles +2½ TD Passes -120
Jay Cutler ~ Bears -2½ TD Passes -120
Analysis: Donovan McNabb threw 23 touchdown passes last season after tossing just 19 in 2007 and only 18 in 2006. Jay Cutler, who has been a full-time starter for the past two seasons following a five-start rookie season in 2006, threw 25 TD passes last season and 20 touchdowns passes in 2007.
While I expect Cutler to have some struggles in his first season with the Chicago Bears and their uninspiring receiving core, I like the strong-armed former Broncos starter to cover the spread here and cash in for BetUS sports betting members across the globe. D-Mac has never been a high-rate touchdown pass kinda’ guy and now that Michael Vick will see some snaps under center this season, I expect him to throw somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 TD passes again. Take Jay “I’m not a cry baby’ Cutler to cover the spread here.
NFL Pick: Jay Cutler -2½ TD Passes
McNabb vs. Romo Most Touchdown Passes
Donovan McNabb ~ Eagles +6½ TD Passes -120
Tony Romo ~ Cowboys -6½ TD Passes -120
Analysis: I’m going on record right now to say that I’m expecting the Dallas Cowboys to have some major receiving problems now that they’ve parted ways with enigmatic former wideout Terrell Owens. They unwisely named possession receiver Roy Williams as their No. 1 wideout despite the fact that he’s not a game-breaking type of player by any stretch of the imagination.
Tony Romo has thrown 19, 36 and 26 touchdown passes over the last three seasons, compared to McNabb’s 18, 19 and 23 TD strikes over the same span. I like D-Mac to cover the high TD spread here after throwing just three less touchdowns than Romo last season.
NFL Pick: Donovan McNabb +6½ TD Passes
McNabb vs. Rodgers Most Touchdown Passes
Donovan McNabb ~ Eagles +6½ TD Passes -120
Aaron Rodgers ~ Packers -6½ TD Passes -120
Analysis: Aaron Rodgers threw a solid 28 touchdown passes for the Green Bay Packers last season, his first as a full-time starter after sitting behind legendary QB Brett Favre for three seasons. While McNabb has the clear edge in experience in this matchup, I think Rodgers is going to approach the 30-TD mark again in 2009 – and cover the spread for BetUS NFL enthusiasts by the slimmest of margins in this matchup against McNabb.
NFL Pick: Aaron Rodgers -6½ TD Passes
McNabb vs. Ryan Most Touchdown Passes
Donovan McNabb ~ Eagles -1½ TD Passes -120
Matt Ryan ~ Falcons +1½ TD Passes -120
Analysis: the Atlanta Falcons’ Matt Ryan looked like the second coming of Joe Montana in his rookie season last year, leading the win-starved Falcons to a surprising 11-5 SU record and nearly making the postseason in the process. While Ryan threw just 16 touchdown passes last season compared to McNabb’s 23, I think the former Boston College star closes the gap on D-Mac in a big way in his second season, particularly after the Falcons added future Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez to an already dangerous offense. With Atlanta giving Ryan more freedom to throw the ball this season, I say he covers the spread here for NFL fanatics.
NFL Pick: Matt Ryan +1½ TD Passes
McNabb vs. Warner Most Touchdown Passes
Donovan McNabb ~ Eagles +6 TD Passes -130
Kurt Warner ~ Cardinals -6½ TD Passes -110
Analysis: The Arizona Cardinals reached the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history last season, thanks to the accurate right arm of veteran quarterback Kurt Warner. While the Cardinals will almost assuredly run the ball a bit more in 2009, I still like Warner to cover the NFL betting spread against McNabb as he’s thrown a whopping 57 TD passes over the last two seasons, and bested McNabb’s total of 23 last season by seven touchdown passes. It’s going to be close here NFL betting brethren, but I say take Kurt Warner to narrowly cover the spread in this matchup of wily veteran QB’s.
NFL Pick: Kurt Warner -6½ TD Passes
