BetFlix Clash – Drunk Handicapper vs. Rob Shaw II

Thousands of Betflix viewers are probably wondering the same thing that I am – Is there really a “brouhaha brewing” between the Drunk Handicapper and Rob Shaw? What started as friendly competition seems to have degenerated into some serious trash talking, as clearly witnessed by their heated exchange on Betflix. Rivalries, feuds and bad blood are common in sports, but it’s not that common for two professional handicappers to go head-to-head like this. Both went a lacklustre 2-3 with their Week 8 picks, so neither holds a clear edge, so the stakes are even higher heading into a stellar slate of NFL Week 9 action.

One thing is perfectly clear, both these NFL prognosticators are a contrast in styles – I mean, it would be hard to find two guys with such different philosophies. Rob Shaw is the consummate   handicapper; a level-headed, straight-edged pragmatist, who clearly articulates his picks each week – he can seem as cocky as a Wall Street banker.

In stumbles the Drunk Handicapper – George needs to take his medicine, but there’s a method to his drunken madness. His inebriated outbursts may seem reckless, but the guy knows his football! It might be hard to decipher his intoxicated picks, but usually he’s right on the money. He’s all swagger and it’s hard to not love his mantra “Put your profits in the bank!” Many great thinkers relied on a little booze to get their creative juices flowing – leave it to G.S. to nail down the locks of the week.

You may be wondering how this whole thing got started anyway?  The history between these two handicappers is murky, but Rob Shaw may have been the one to fire the first salvo. As a prelude to making his Week 8 picks, Shaw decided to flagrantly taunt the Drunk Handicapper. After accusing him of guzzling cheap ‘generic’ beer and vodka, he flaunted a trophy that he proclaimed he’d won from the inebriated handicapper for possessing “greater sports knowledge.” Adding to insult, he announced he’d fill the trophy with Cognac (not the cheap generic booze quaffed by the drunkard.)  

This classless and pompous display was not well received by the Drunk Handicapper and seems to have really put a fire in his belly. He was in a hard-drinking mood while making his Week 9 picks on Betflix having already consumed most of a bottle of Bacardi rum. He issued a raging riposte calling Shaw something like a “red-headed stepchild”? At least, I think that’s what he said. Then he warned Shaw that he used the trophy as a night potty. Anyway, things were getting a little messy by then.

Our guess is that a friendly rivalry between these rival handicappers will raise their game – putting the winnings in our pockets! That’s usually the outcome of a healthy competition. Chances are Week 9 will break the deadlock, so tune into Betflix to see who ends up on top.
