NFL Teasers Picks of the Day for Week 3
by Charles Jay

We won three of our five teaser plays last week, which puts us a little ahead of the game. We try again this week, with five more two-team, six-point teasers. Remember that we are laying -110 on each of them.
The teased number is listed, with the opponent in parentheses:
TEASER #1
Tennessee Titans +8.5 ( New York Jets)
Philadelphia Eagles -2.5 ( Kansas City Chiefs)
-- Last week we used the Titans in one of our teaser plays and they suffered too many breakdowns in the secondary. This week, in a little more desperate mode, I cannot see them letting this thing get too far out of hand with a Jets team that will finally have a running game in front of them. Chris Johnson, who lit up Houston for 197 yards last week, will see to that.
Tennessee lost three games all of last season; I don't think you're going to see them equal that figure without a genuine struggle.......I know that Drew Brees took advantage of every opportunity against Eagle team that made plenty of mistakes and just couldn't trade points to make up for it, but do you honestly see any resemblance between the Kansas City offense, even with "savior" Matt Cassel in the lineup, and that of the Saints with all their weapons? I do not believe that the Chiefs are ready to go on the road and win a game against a playoff team, even if that playoff team is without Donovan McNabb.
TEASER #2
New York Giants -1 ( Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
San Diego Chargers pick (Miami Dolphins)
-- If you recall, Raymond James Stadium is where the Super Bowl champion Giants of a couple of years ago began their post-season run. That was part of a string where the Giants have now won 12 of their last 15 road games. There are few areas, if any, where they are not more solid than the Buccaneers and their raw rookie head coach.
Tampa Bay's secondary is obviously having a period of adjustment with its new coverage scheme, and so the Giants look like they are not ready to exploit it with Steve Smith and Mario Manningham coming along......I'm happy to look for a straight-up win from a San Diego team that can get plenty of explosiveness out of Darren Sproles, even in the absence of LaDanian Tonlinson. Miami has a tough cross-country turnaround, and can they take their Wildcat show on the road?
TEASER #3
St. Louis Rams +12.5 ( Green Bay Packers)
Atlanta Falcons +10.5 ( New England Patriots)
-- It's not that I'm crazy about anything the Rams are doing, and they certainly can't get into a shootout with the Packers, but there were some encouraging to take away from last week's 9-7 loss to Washington, particularly on the defensive side.
They might be able to show some ball control against Dom Capers still-developing 3-4 alignment (with Steven Jackson) and meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers has been sacked ten times, so this is an opportunity for Steve Spagnuolo's team to turn up the pressure.......I know some people are looking for New England to bounce back strong, but I'm not so sure the timing on that team is right, or that it is going to get right very soon. Tom Brady is very tentative. Atlanta can travel well because of a somewhat improved defense, the addition of tight end Tony Gonzalez, a running game and the continued development of Matt Ryan, who gets to play in front of some BC fans.
TEASER #4
Seattle Seahawks +8 ( Chicago Bears)
Jacksonville Jaguars +9.5 ( Houston Texans)
-- With the young and inexperienced receivers the Bears have (and I am including the very green Devin Hester in that group) watch how the crowd noise at Qwest Field affects them when they want to check out of plays. I'm giving a chance for the Seahawks to move the ball on the ground against a Chicago defense that is without Brian Urlacher, which will take pressure off Matt Hasselbeck.
Speaking of moving the ball on the ground, Jack Del Rio knows that the Texans are having all kinds of problems stopping running backs, and he will offer a heavy dose of Maurice Jones-Drew and whoever else he can come up with. I don't see Houston as a team that can sustain consistency on offense week in and week out.
TEASER #5
New Orleans Saints pick (Buffalo Bills)
Indianapolis Colts +8.5 ( Arizona Cardinals)
-- This goes against some instincts, but okay guys, you like Drew Brees? We'll go with Drew Brees and his team on the road. I just wouldn't lay many points with New Orleans because I don't believe in their defense.......Don't you think it's possible the wrong team is favored in the Colts-Cardinals game? From what I've heard, Peyton Manning & Co. can score more than a point a minute...as long as they have the ball in their hands.
