NCAAF - Best Regular Season Wagers in College Football

College football begins soon, very soon, which means that bettors should be placing wagers on college football futures in the next week or so.
The best wagering offered in the Sportsbook regarding NCAAF futures has to do with regular season victories. Betting a team to go over the BetUS Total or under the BetUS Total for Regular Season wins is a way to get some terrific wagers in before having to bet single games.
The key, of course, is to find the best wagers with the best odds. Case in point, the Penn State Nittany Lions who most assuredly will win over 9 games this season because of their ridiculously easy schedule. That’s all well and good but putting up -250 for to bet the Nittany Lions to win over 9 games probably isn’t a good bet. The odds do not justify the risk, so to speak.
Let’s take a look at the best wagers available in this category in the sportsbook.
NCAAF: Regular Season Win Wagers
1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Over 9 wins -110 - - Don’t call me crazy, but the odds are terrific on the Fighting Irish who have 18 seniors and 30 juniors on their squad. The Fighting Irish should beat everyone save for USC, and the game against Michigan is shaping up to be a gem. Hypothetically, the Irish could go undefeated, but even if they don’t, 10 wins seem like a safe bet.
2. Nebraska Cornhuskers Over 8 ½ wins +135 - - Most gamblers believe that Cornhuskers will win the Big 12 North. If that’s the case, then they should get to 9 victories. Potential losses are to Virginia Tech, Oklahoma and Nebraska but those are toss up games and, on paper at least, they are good enough to beat those teams. Kansas could pose a threat but Nebraska should be much better in 2009. They look tough this year.
3. LSU Fighting Tigers Over 8 ½ -105 - - The Fighting Tigers don’t look like a great bet to win at least 9 games based on the fact that they only have 8 seniors on their team, but this is LSU. They are a football factory and no doubt should be tough to bet against as they have a ton of talent to take the place of their lack of senior leadership. Also, they face Auburn, Alabama and Mississippi in what could be down seasons for those three SEC power houses. LSU could once against find themselves at the top of the SEC heap.
4. Florida Gators Over 11 wins -105 - - The Gators are stacked on defense, might need some help on the offensive line but still have superstar Tim Tebow who can rock and sock’em all the way to the BCS Championship. The biggest key for Florida this season? Their SEC schedule just doesn’t look as difficult as it has in the past. Kentucky, Arkansas and South Carolina could all have down years. LSU has only 8 seniors on their squad and Georgia will be with new starters at running back and quarterback. Florida looks ultra-tough again and an undefeated season, that would be 12 wins, is not out of the question.
5. USC Trojans Over 10 ½ +120 - - The odds say that the Trojans win 10 games and lose two. I wonder if the BetUS ncaaf odds makers have looked a USC’s schedule because, once again, it’s just not that daunting. USC still have an incredible defense and their offensive line should be better in 2009 than it was in 2008. So, they get upset by Ohio State or Notre Dame or Cal. Who cares? They’re not going to lose more than 1 game during the regular season. That’s a guarantee. Take the odds and take history. USC wins 11 games in 2009.
6. Oklahoma Sooners Under 10 Wins -165 - - I hate to put this much money up on the Sooners to fail when they’ve been so good going the opposite way the past few years. But there’s no doubt in my mind that this team just isn’t close to where they were in 2008 on the offensive line and the schedule is tough. The Sooners lose to possibly Brigham Young out of the gate, Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma State this year. That’s four losses. Let’s say I’m wrong and they beat one of those teams. That’s still three losses and they still have to play Kansas, a possible loss, Tulsa and Miami FL, two teams that could surprise someone like the Sooners on any given Saturday.
7. Kansas Jayhawks Over 8 ½ +125 - - Sure, they will lose to Oklahoma, Nebraska and Texas, but they should beat Northern Colorado, UTEP, Duke, Southern Miss, Iowa State, Colorado, Texas Tech, Kansas State and Missouri. That’s 9 wins. Take the odds, cross your fingers, and try to get some mullah on the plus side with the Jayhawks.
8. Tennessee Volunteers Over 7 wins +110 - - I know, I know, it takes time for a new coach to get his system going in college football but the Vols have a relatively easy schedule, SEC wise, and could surprise this season because their offensive line is very good. They should beat Western Kentucky, UCLA (home), Ohio, Auburn and Georgia (both home games), South Carolina (home), Memphis, Vanderbilt and Kentucky. That’s actually 9 wins. So, bettors have a game to work with.
9. West Virginia Under 8 ½ wins -120 - - The Mountaineers figure to have a down year now that Pat White is no longer there at quarterback. Not only that but their head coach really hasn’t proven himself as a recruiter. So, nobody appears capable of replacing White. A suspect defense means that the Mountaineers should only win 8 games at the most in 2009.
10. Arizona Wildcats Over 6 ½ wins -145 - - I’m not in love with the odds, but the Wildcats return 12 seniors including quarterback Willie Tuitama who can really get hot at times. This team should win at least 7, Central Michigan, Northern Arizona, Washington, Stanford, UCLA, Washington State and Oregon should all be victories, and have a chance at two more against Arizona State and Oregon State on the road. That’s 9 potential victories giving bettors something to work with regarding this wager.
