College Football Betting Odds: Georgia Tech -14

Here are some BetUS.com Betting Trends Which May Impact This Game:

Wake Forest: 2-3-1 ATS in their last 6 games
Wake Forest: 2-4 SU in their last 6 games
Wake Forest: Total has gone OVER in 4 of their last 6 road games
Georgia Tech: 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games
Georgia Tech: 6-1 SU in their last 7 home games
Georgia Tech: 8-3 SU in their last 11 games against Georgia Tech

Two teams going in completely different directions in the ACC, will square off in Bobby Dodd Stadium Saturday, when the Wake Forest Demon Deacons visit the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

For Georgia Tech, it has been a storybook season so far, as they’re 8-1, and if they can win their next two games will clinch the ACC’s Coastal Division.

The Yellow Jackets run the triple option offense, a scheme which few have been able to figure out this season. Currently, the Yellow Jackets have the No. 2 rushing offense in all of college football (304 yards per game), and the No. 12 scoring offense (over 35 points).

They are also No. 1 in time of possession, controlling the ball for over a minute more each game than anyone else in college football. They’ve scored at least 28 points in each of their last five games, going over 40 points three times in that span, and hitting 56 against Vanderbilt last weekend.

Defensively, the Yellow Jackets have struggled this season. Currently, they are ranked in the bottom half of college football in scoring defense (No. 67), total defense (60) and passing defense (66). They are led by defensive end Derrick Morgan, and safety Morgan Burnett, both potential All-Americans.

As for Wake Forest, it hasn’t quite been the senior season quarterback Riley Skinner- the program’s all-time winningest quarterback- envisioned. They need to win two of their final three games to be bowl eligible, and it isn’t even 100 percent sure that Skinner will start Saturday, after suffering a concussion last year.

On the year, Skinner has thrown 18 touchdowns, but has also been plagued with 10 interceptions. Top wide receiver Marshall Williams also injured his hamstring Saturday although he is expected to play.

However, regardless of the offense’s struggles, if the Demon Deacons are even able to keep it close Saturday, they’ll need to stop Georgia Tech’s high-powered offense. Wake does have talent on the defensive side of the ball, but they’re giving up 180 yards on the ground per game, which could make things ugly Saturday.

Wake Forest is desperate for a win, but between the injuries, struggles on defense and offensive injuries, it’s a lot to ask for them to keep this close. One advantage they do have however, is that they faced Navy two weeks ago, a team that runs a very similar offense to Georgia Tech, and held the Midshipmen to just 13 points. But Georgia Tech isn’t Navy.

Expect the Yellow Jackets to cover this week’s BetUS.com College Football Betting Odds.
