College Football Betting Trends: Navy at (22) Notre Dame
by Al Simmons

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will try to keep their momentum going as they host the 11 point underdog Navy Midshipmen at 2:30 PM ET at Notre Dame Stadium in an Independents Conference clash.
College Football Betting Odds:
Navy Midshipmen +11
Notre Dame Fighting Irish -11
O/U 55
Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen is coming off a big performance last week in the 40-14 win over Washington State. Clausen threw two touchdowns, including a marvelous hail mary pass to Golden Tate.
Navy on the other hand dropped a 6 games winning streak after losing 27-24 to Temple last week.
Fighting Irish WR Michael Floyd is ready to get on the field after missing the last 5 games after surgery on a broken collarbone. Floyd was expected to be out for the whole regular season. This will give Clausen even more weapons on offense.
"He came back to me and said, 'I'm ready to go,'" Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis said of Floyd.
"The biggest thing he's going to have to happen is to get tackled once. He'll get hit in practice some, but I doubt we're going to try him out in practice. I think we're going to have to wait and find that out as it happens in game."
Notre Dame is up to face a good passing defense, Navy only allows 178.1 yards thru the air and has important playmakers on the secondary; however College Football betting fans should realize Clausen is playing like a NFL prospect and it will be hard to stop him.
If the Midshipmen can establish the run early and often in the game they could have a true upset opportunity. They are the 3rd rank school in the nation in rushing yards but they will face a defense that allows just 123.9 yards thru the ground and no so many TD.
Expect FB Vince Murray to get a lot of touches in the middle of the field but when they get to the red zone it will be all QB Ricky Dobbs job, as he has scored 16 times rushing so far this season.
Also remember Notre Dame had a 43 game winning streak over Navy until the defeated 46-44 on 2007 in a three-overtime win in South Bend. Notre Dame bounced back with a 27-21 road win on 2008 but almost lost a 20 point lead in the final two minutes.
College Football Betting Trends:
- Notre Dame is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home and 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games.
- Navy is 17-8 ATS in its last 25 games on the road.
- If you’re betting on the game total notice it has gone OVER in 4 of Navy's last 6 games.
My pick: Notre Dame won’t cover the spread.
