World Series Game 6 Betting Odds – Philadelphia at New York

After nailing my World Series Game 5 prediction for BetUS MLB sports betting members in what has been an absolutely spectacular 2009 MLB wagering season, I am back for more on tonight’s Game 6 showdown between the Philadelphia Phillies (102-74 SU, 80-85-8 O/U, 90-83 RL) and New York Yankees (113-63 SU, 82-84-9 O/U, 97-78 RL).
The Yankees will look to win the first World Series at new Yankee Stadium tonight at 8 PM ET.
Chase Utley went bonkers at the plate for Philadelphia once again, going 2-for-3 at the plate and smacking two more home runs to lead the Phillies to a convincing 8-6 win over New York in Game 5 on Monday night, while tying a major-league record held by former Yankees star Reggie Jackson with five World Series home runs.
Philadelphia cashed in for BetUS MLB gamblers as -155 home favorites while the teams played Over the 8.5-run O/U total.
Veteran outfielder Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4 with a solo shot and two RBIs for the Phillies while Alex Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for New York in a losing effort.
Now trailing 3-2, Philadelphia will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Pedro Martinez (5-2, 3.28 ERA) while the Yankees counter with veteran southpaw Andy Pettitte (17-8, 4.06 ERA) who starts for the Yankees in just three days’ rest.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends and MLB Odds, followed by my in-depth analysis and expert MLB Free Picks.
Philadelphia is 5-2 SU in its last 7 games on the road
NY Yankees are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games at home
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Philadelphia's last 8 games
The total has gone OVER in 8 of Philadelphia's last 11 games on the road
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of NY Yankees' last 5 games at home
Philadelphia Phillies +1½ -110
Pedro Martinez – R
New York Yankees -1½ -110
Andy Pettitte - L
Over 9 -120
Under 9 Ev
The Starters: Philadelphia’s Pedro Martinez has gone 0-1 over his last three starts with a 3.18 ERA while New York southpaw Andy Pettitte has gone 2-0 over his last three starts with a 3.86 ERA.
Analysis: Call me crazy, it’s okay, but just like I wrote prior to Game 5, I genuinely believe the Phillies have at least one more win in them coming into this contest, based mostly on the fact that Yankees manager Joe Girardi’s decision to start veteran left-hander Andy Pettitte on just three days’ rest despite his advancing age, will come back to haunt the Yankees in a big way, particularly if Philadelphia can get to the Yankees’ career postseason leader in wins early in the contest, which I believe they will.
Philadelphia has been the most resilient, comeback team in all of baseball and I believe they will put that special quality on display one more time in tonight’s matchup while getting another solid effort from their own aging starter Pedro Martinez.
The Phillies can hit either left-handers or right-handers equally well and shouldn’t have many problems getting to Pettitte who is likely to tire out easily in this contest while the well-rested Martinez gives Philadelphia more quality innings before the team has to go to its bullpen.
I like Philadelphia to cover the Run Line with the outright road win tonight while the Over plays out with both teams scoring their fair share of runs in this one.
