Looking for Revenge - Rangers and Angels get set for Battle

The Texas Rangers (46-36 SU, 43-39 RL, 31-48-3 O/U) and Los Angeles Angels (46-36 SU, 45-37 RL, 44-34-4 O/U) will both be shooting an SU and RL victory when they meet at Angel Stadium tonight at 10 PM ET.
Veteran outfielder Andruw Jones smacked a three-run homer to lead the Rangers to a convincing 8-5 win over the Angels on Tuesday night.
Texas cashed in for baseball betting members as +155 road underdogs while the final score played Over the 10-run Over/Under total.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia went 2-for-4 with two RBI for the Rangers while Juan Rivera went 3-for-5 with two home runs for Los Angeles in a losing effort.
Tonight, the Rangers will hand the ball to right-hander Vicente Padilla (6-4, 4.75 ERA) while the Angels counter with right-hander Ervin Santana (1-4, 7.43 ERA).
Padilla was smacked around in his last start, allowing five earned runs on 10 hits – including two home runs – in a 5-2 loss to the Angels on Monday of last week.
Santana allowed six runs – four earned – on eight hits while striking out five in five innings of a 6-4 loss to Baltimore on Friday.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my in-depth analysis and MLB Free Pick.
- The Rangers are 6-1 in their last 7 games as an underdog.
- The Rangers are 6-1 in their last 7 overall.
- The Rangers are 7-1 in Padilla’s last 8 starts as an underdog.
- The Rangers are 20-6 in Padilla’s last 26 road starts.
- The Angels are 8-2 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
- The Angels are 6-2 in their last 8 home games.
- The Angels are 26-9 in Santana’s last 35 starts vs. American League West.
- The Angels are 2-5 in Santana’s last 7 starts as a favorite.
- The Over is 4-0 in Rangers last 4 vs. American League West.
- The Under is 5-0 in Padilla’s last 5 starts overall.

Analysis: The Los Angeles Angels are ranked first in all of baseball in hitting with a team batting average of .281 but are ranked just 27th in pitching with a team earned run average of 4.70.
The Texas Rangers are ranked 19th in hitting with a team batting average of .259 but are ranked just 22nd in pitching with a team earned run average of 4.38.
Ervin Santana has been smacked around in two straight starts covering just 9.2 innings while allowing 10 earned runs on 16 hits – including two home runs.
Vicente Padilla has gone 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA over his last three starts.
The Texas Rangers are playing excellent baseball, having won six of their last seven games coming into tonight’s contest while the Angels have won four of its last six.
While I don’t believe the Rangers are a better ballclub than the Angels, they just seem to have L.A.’s umber this season, winning six of eight games against their AL West rivals and I believe they are going to come out with a stellar effort tonight as they try to extract some revenge for Vicente Padilla who was knocked senseless against the Angels just last week.
The Rangers have gone a blistering 6-1 in their last seven games overall while going an excellent 7-1 in Vicente Padilla’s last eight starts as an underdog and 20-6 in Padilla’s last 26 road starts overall.
While the Angels have gone 6-2 in their last eight home games and 26-9 in Ervin Santana’s last 35 starts against American League West opponents, L.A. has also gone a poor 2-5 in Santana’s last seven starts as a favorite and just 1-4 in Santana’s last 5 starts as a favorite of -110 to -150.
I also like the fact that the Rangers have gone 11-2 in Vicente Padilla’s last 13 road starts against a team with a winning record and say back the Rangers to get to Ervin Santana just one night after laying a smackdown of Angels staff ace John Lackey.
I also like the Over in a big way as it has gone a spotless 4-0 in the Angels’ last four games as a home favorite and 4-0 in the Rangers’ last four games against American League West opponents.
