NL $$$ Power Poll - Rockies are Rolling

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

The final month of the baseball betting season is hitting its home stretch! Check out BetUS Sportsbook’s NL Power Poll as we continue through the month of September…

1) Colorado Rockies (81-62, +$1,464) (4-2, +$179 LW) (LW: 2) Maybe they should rename this month “Rocktember.” The Rockies went on a huge eight-game winning streak to kick off the month of September, and as a result, not only have they really put a tremendous gap between themselves and the Giants and Marlins, but they’ve got the Dodgers sweating about their position in the NL West and the best record in the NL.

On Deck: @ Giants, @ Diamondbacks

2) Los Angeles Dodgers (85-59, +$1,340) (3-2, +$82 LW) (LW: 4) Over the span of the L/3 days, the Dodgers may have successfully fended off Colorado’s last attack on the NL West crown and knocked their rivals out of the playoff picture. Still, with a three game lead on the Rockies in the NL West, there still has to be a level of skepticism in Dodgertown.

On Deck: vs. Pirates, vs. Giants

3) St. Louis Cardinals (84-60, +$1,239) (2-3, -$202 LW) (LW: 3) St. Louis’ L/4 losses have all come by one run, which has to concern manager Tony LaRussa. The Cards are going to need to win these close games in order to succeed in October. SPs Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright are both doing their job. The duo is a combined 25-10 on the season after Carpenter’s L yesterday.

On Deck: vs. Marlins, vs. Cubs

4) San Francisco Giants (77-66, +$874) (1-4, -$431 LW) (LW: 1) Turn out the lights in San Fran. Yes, it’s possible for the Giants to erase their deficit to the Rockies with just a few weeks remaining in the MLB betting season, but prospects are grim at best. Anything less than a sweep of the Rockies will probably be the final deathblow.

On Deck: vs. Rockies, @ Dodgers

5) Philadelphia Phillies (82-60, +$606) (5-2, +$126 LW) (LW: 6) Objects in rear view mirror may be closer than they appear. The Phillies may have their sights set on the Cardinals and Dodgers for the best record in the National League, but they’d better have one eye fixated on the Fish before they get much closer. If Florida runs them down, neither team from last year’s World Series will be in the playoffs.

On Deck: vs. Nationals, @ Braves

6) Florida Marlins (76-67, +$500) (4-2, +$0 LW) (LW: 5) Florida just continues to post solid numbers week after week. But the truth of the matter is that it isn’t gaining ground quick enough. All the Fish can do is keep on winning. Those six games against the Phillies may be the only hope they have of making the playoffs, because it feels like it’s nearly impossible to run down the Rockies for the Wild Card.

On Deck: @ Cardinals, @ Reds

7) Houston Astros (70-73, +$152) (3-3, -$66 LW) (LW: 7) The ‘Stros wrapped up their ten-game home stand at 7-3 and showed they can still compete with the best teams in the NL in the process. They won’t make the playoffs by any stretch of the imagination, but the future is bright in the Lone Star State for 2010.

On Deck: @ Reds, @ Brewers

8) San Diego Padres (65-79, -$128) (4-1, +$349 LW) (LW: 9) The Padres were arguably the hottest team in baseball until they ran into the other team that was arguably the hottest team in baseball this week. The pitching staff has been fantastic for San Diego of late, as the unit has only allowed more than four runs in a game twice since August 31 st.

On Deck: vs. Diamondbacks, @ Pirates

And the rest…

9) Atlanta Braves (75-68, -$487) (5-1, +$488 LW) (LW: 12)

10) Cincinnati Reds (64-79, -$608) (1-5, -$320 LW) (LW: 8)

11) Milwaukee Brewers (69-73, -$689) (3-2, +$176 LW) (LW: 11)

12) Chicago Cubs (73-68, -$1,181) (4-1, +$209 LW) (LW: 13)

13) New York Mets (63-81, -$1,161) (1-6, -$432 LW) (LW: 10)

14) Pittsburgh Pirates (55-86, -$2,052) (1-4, -$267 LW) (LW: 15)

15) Arizona Diamondbacks (62-82, -$2,112) (1-4, -$395 LW) (LW: 14)

16) Washington Nationals (50-93, -$2,945) (3-3, +$247 LW) (LW: 16)
