MLB Betting Trends - Hottest OVER Teams

‘Over’ teams have been hard to find lately, but they’re out there! Check out this week’s list of the best run-producing teams in the bigs over the L/5 days with BetUS Sportsbook’s “Who’s Hot”…

(Rank) (Team) (O/U Record) (O/U Record in L/5)

1: San Francisco Giants (64-75-10) (4-0-1 in L/5) The Giants are still making a push towards the NL Wild Card, but their pitching staff has been absolutely woeful of late. They’ve allowed at least four runs to cross the plate in six straight games, which is awful news for a team that is only averaging a shade over 4.00 runs per contest this season. SPs Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum were both supposed to be legitimate Cy Young contenders this season, and though Lincecum still has a chance thanks to his lofty 247 strikeouts, neither one will likely be the man with the hardware when it’s all said and done. If the G-Men are making the playoffs, both will need to step in up in a hurry.

2: Los Angeles Dodgers (66-73-11) (4-1 in L/5) The bats for the boys from Tinseltown have been keeping scoreboard operators busy of late. After a bit of an offensive lull that let both the Rockies and Giants sneak back into contention for the NL West title, the Dodgers have effectively put the division away by scoring at least eight runs in each of their L/3 games, all victories. The lead is now comfortable enough for manager Joe Torre to feel a bit better about his position, but there’s still the issue of whether or not LA will finish with the best record in the National League or not. In all likelihood, the Dodgers will end up facing either Philadelphia or St. Louis one way or the other in the first round of the playoffs, but there’s a big difference between playing games 1, 2, and 5 of that series at home or away.

3: Baltimore Orioles (73-72-6) (4-1 in L/5) When you’ve got the worst rated pitching staff in baseball, it’s easy to play plenty of ‘over’ games. Over the L/4 days, the Orioles have given up at least nine runs three times. The numbers on this staff are still absolutely atrocious across the board. LHP Jeremy Guthrie is the only man on the team that has thrown enough innings to be qualified for ERA, and he’s just 10-15 with a 5.05 ERA. For what it’s worth, those ten wins are easily the most on the team. Six other guys have started at least ten games this season. Bradley Bergesen’s 7-5 record is the best of the bunch, and he is the only starter with a sub-4.00 ERA on the staff. He hasn’t thrown in since the end of July though. The bullpen hasn’t looked much better. Of relief pitchers that have thrown at least 50 innings this year, not one has an ERA better than 4.05. No wonder why the O’s are probably going to be looking for a new manager at the end of the season…

And the rest…

4: Oakland Athletics (72-73-3) (4-1 in L/5)

5: Arizona Diamondbacks (69-73-9) ( 3-1-1 in L/5)
