Golf Betting - Wyndham Championship Top Ten/Top Four

Neither Tiger Woods nor Y.E. Yang, the twosome that provided such great fireworks this past Sunday in the 2009 USPGA Championship, will tee-off in the Wyndham Championship this week, but that shouldn’t keep BetUS online sportsbook fans away from their computers.

Lucas Glover, the U.S. Open Champion, Sergio Garcia, David Toms and Tim Clark have all shown up to play in the Wyndham.  So has little know Michael Letzig who no doubt could bet the man to beat this week.

Let’s take a look at some of the top contenders to finish in the Top 10 and the Top 4 for the Wyndham Championship.

Wyndham Championship Top 10 and Top 4

** Top 10 odds listed first

  1. Michael Letzig +175, +400 - - Letzig only has two Top 10 finishes this year but they both occurred in his last two tournaments.  He finished 8th in the RBC Canadian Open and 6th in the Buick Open.  Letzig has a really nice swing and he should be fresh after letting the name players beat each other up the past two weeks.  He has a chance to not only finish in the Top 10 and Top 4 but to win this tournament outright.
  1. Lucas Glover +125, +300 - - Glover’s work ethic is absolutely amazing.  His 5th in the USPGA is a sign that he’s gotten his swing back after two tournaments where he finished 66th and missed the cut.  Glover didn’t win the U.S. Open on sheer luck.  This guy can golf and he’s done so this year against the likes of Tiger Woods and Padraig Harrington.  This field should be easier for him to navigate.
  1. Sergio Garcia +125, +300 - - Sergio showing up in this, after missing the cut in the USPGA last week, can mean only one thing.  Sergio is trying to regain the form that helped him be so successful in 2008.  This is the field to take on for Garcia who has had an incredibly awful 2009.  Garcia believes he can win the FedEx Cup.  It starts at Wyndham
  1. David Toms +175, +400 - - After finishing second in the Traveler’s Championship in late June, Toms has just been okay with a 22nd place finish at the WGC-Bridgestone and a 36th place finish at the USPGA Championship.  Toms is a definite player in this, however, because the usual competition just hasn’t lined up to take on the Sedgefield Country Club.  Toms could turn things around in this tournament.
  1. Tim Clark +150, +350 - - Clark’s 16th place finish at the USPGA last week means that he’s on top of his game.  Clark is notorious for starting fast and then losing leads on Saturday and Sunday.  He’ll try to keep that from happening in the Wyndham.  He’s a solid bet for at least a Top 10 finish.
  1. Rod Pampling +400, +900 - - Tiger Woods has said that Pampling has the nicest looking swing on tour.  He needs to find a way to get that nice swing to turn into birdies as he’s missed the cut in 4 out of the last 6 tournaments he’s played in.  Pampling should be much better this week and he has been known to put together a solid outing here and there.  The odds are good.

Best Long Shot

Daniel Chopra +675, +1500 - - Man, Chopra’s in bad form.  He missed the cut in the Buick Open and then finished in 71st place in the Legends-Reno Tahoe Open.  A bounce back is likely as Chopra took last week off.  Hopefully, he worked on his swing.  The Chopra who finished 8th in the Arnold Palmer and 9th in the John Deere Classic is who bettors will be hoping shows up this week.
