Breeders Cup Betting
The Breeders' Cup Review
Sports betting fans can hardly wait for the 2009 Breeders' Cup.
If they live in Southern California, the wait won't seem that long because the 2009 Breeders' Cup, for the first time in thoroughbred racing history, will be held at the same site back-to-back.
It's an important fact for online racebook fans to keep in mind. Horse betting fans have an entire year to get to know the nuances that make the Santa Anita Park Pro-Ride surface different than any artificial track.
Then, of course, there's the Kentucky Derby in May for horse bet fans to concentrate on.
But before moving on to anything else, lets recap the 2008 Breeders' Cup!
Breeders' Cup Classic: In the biggest race of the day, the Steve Asmussen trained and reigning Horse of the Year, Curlin went off at odds of 7 to 5. Fourth place was the best Curlin could muster after two European stars, Raven's Pass and Henrythenavigator, battled it out in the stretch for the victory. It was Raven's Pass who bested his rival to take home top honors.
Breeders' Cup Sprint: One of the most exciting races on the card in every Breeders' Cup, the Sprint provided some serious fireworks when last year's winner, Midnight Lute, returned to defend his title. Lute beat down over seven other rivals and paid $7.40 to win.
